Time Flies: Living Clock™ (“Time Flies”, “the app”) is developed by FireTEXT® Dispatch Solutions Inc. (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the Time Flies iPad app and the timeflies.live website handle, why, and the choices you have.
1. Information you give the app
Your ZIP code. You enter a U.S. ZIP code so Time Flies can show your local weather. It is stored on your iPad. To turn it into a place, the app sends the ZIP code to Apple’s location service (see section 3). The ZIP code is not sent to us.
Your preferences. These include your clock style, temperature units, 12 or 24-hour time, and display options. They are stored only on your iPad.
2. Information the app does not collect
Time Flies does not collect or ask for:
- your precise location or GPS
- your name, email address, phone number, or contacts
- photos, camera, or microphone access
- advertising identifiers or any identifier that tracks you across apps
- analytics about how you use the app
3. Services the app uses
To work, Time Flies connects to the services below. Like any internet connection, these requests include your device’s IP address, which those providers receive as part of making the connection.
| Service | Provider | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Location lookup | Apple | The ZIP code you enter | To find the city, state, time zone, and map coordinates for that ZIP code |
| Weather | Apple Weather (WeatherKit) | The coordinates of your ZIP code area (not your device’s location) | To show current weather, sunrise, and sunset |
| Official weather alerts | U.S. National Weather Service (weather.gov) | The coordinates of your ZIP code area, rounded, or the weather zones for that area | To show official watches and warnings |
| Pro purchases | Apple (App Store) | Your purchase, through your Apple Account | To process Pro purchases and confirm your plan |
| Crash reporting | Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) | Crash and performance details (see section 4) | To find and fix bugs |
The coordinates sent for weather and alerts describe your ZIP code area, not where your iPad actually is.
Apple’s use of information is described in Apple’s Privacy Policy. The National Weather Service is a U.S. government agency; see weather.gov/privacy.
Pro purchases. If you buy Pro, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store, using your Apple Account. We never see or store your name, your payment details, or your Apple Account. The app checks with Apple, on your iPad, whether you have an active Pro plan, and that information is not sent to us. You can manage or cancel a subscription in Time Flies under Settings → Pro Membership, or in your Apple Account settings.
4. Crash and performance reports
When the app crashes, freezes, or runs out of memory, it sends a report so we can fix the problem. For a small sample of sessions (about 5%), it also sends basic performance timing.
Reports include: the app version, iPad model, iPadOS version, and technical details of the error, such as which part of the app failed.
Reports do not include: your name, ZIP code, settings, IP address, screenshots, or what is on your screen. We have configured crash reporting not to attach personal information, and not to store IP addresses.
Crash reports are not linked to you, are never used for advertising or tracking, and are kept for no longer than 90 days before being deleted automatically.
5. How we use information
We use the limited information above only to:
- show the time, weather, scenery, and alerts you asked for
- keep the app working, and fix crashes and bugs
We do not use it for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell it.
6. Sharing
We don’t sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share information only:
- with the service providers listed in section 3, so the app can work
- if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of our users or others
7. The timeflies.live website
- The website uses no cookies, analytics, or tracking.
- It is hosted by GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc.). GitHub may log technical information such as IP addresses to deliver and secure the site; see the GitHub Privacy Statement.
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when your browser requests them; see the Google Privacy Policy.
8. Community discussions and email
- GitHub Discussions. If you post in our community, your post and GitHub username are public. GitHub’s privacy statement applies. Please don’t post personal information.
- Email. If you email timefliesbyfiretext@gmail.com, we receive your email address and what you write. We use it only to reply to you, and the email is handled by Google (Gmail). We delete support emails within one year of our last reply, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
9. Your choices and rights
- Change or remove your ZIP code at any time in Settings → Weather.
- Delete everything stored by the app by deleting Time Flies from your iPad. This removes your ZIP code, settings, and saved weather.
Because we don’t hold personal information that identifies you in the app, there is usually nothing for us to look up or delete. If you have a request or question, including under state privacy laws such as California’s, email us at timefliesbyfiretext@gmail.com. We won’t discriminate against you for making a request.
10. Children
Time Flies is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, such as by email, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use HTTPS for network connections and don’t put secret keys in the app. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect the limited information the app handles. To report a security issue, see our Security Policy.
12. Where information is processed
Time Flies is offered in the United States. Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries.
13. Weather safety
Time Flies is not an emergency alert system. Always keep Wireless Emergency Alerts enabled on your devices, and use NOAA Weather Radio and local authorities for emergencies.
14. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and post the new version at timeflies.live/privacy.html. If a change significantly affects how we handle information, we will let you know in the app or on the website before it takes effect. As new features arrive, such as the optional FireTEXT®411 connection, we will update this policy before they launch.
